domain mapping

    not sure if I want to pay $13 annually with current provider or transfer domain to wordpress?

    Hi insidemexicohw,

    Domain mapping creates a connection between the domain and WordPress.com. The domain itself remains registered with your current provider and will need to be renewed through them each year.

    If a domain is transferred to WordPress.com, the site and domain can be managed from the same place. The domain will also renew with your WordPress.com plan each year as one cost.

    Domain mapping is now only available through paid plans so transferring the domain may work out to be better value — as you won’t be paying for the plan and a separate domain cost. But mapping is still a good option if you don’t want to transfer the domain :)
