Domain Mapping
-
Hi there,
So i was using Pop.co for my domain and we had our nameservers mapped to wordpress for awhile. Because of a pretty shit function over at Pop.co, we accidentally had our nameservers reset.
The result is that we cannot reach our website anymore using the domain. I tried following online guides to reset the nameservers to “ns1.wordpress.com” but it didnt work and i don’t know what to do anymore. Is there any way we can get the static IP address so we can map directly to WordPress of our site?

HI there,
I see that the nameservers of the domain is currently pointing over to WordPress.com, yet I do not see any mapping subscription on our end. What is the URL of the WordPress.com site that the domain is pointing to?

Whois data is showing the domain nameservers are still pointing over to WordPress.com:
https://whois.domaintools.com/ionssim.co
I’ll look further into this once I get info on the site. Thanks!

Hi there,
We were hoping you would be able to help us with that. To be quite honest, we weren’t very sure what we were mapping to. All we knew was that we had to change the nameservers and map it to “ns.wordpress.com”.
So will we need to find out the IP address of that wordpress site first?

Every WordPress.com site, when it’s created, has a free WordPress.com subdomain created for it. When you point the domain’s name servers to us, you then also add a domain mapping upgrade to that site to complete the connection with the domain.
But the account you’re using to post here doesn’t own any WordPress.com sites and has never owned a domain mapping upgrade. This account was only created a few days ago.
Additionally it doesn’t look like the domain, ionssim.co, has ever been connected to any site on WordPress.com using a domain mapping upgrade, so I don’t think you were at any point using that domain with us.
Looking at historic DNS data for your domain at https://securitytrails.com/domain/ionssim.co/history/ns, you used to have that domain pointed to Amazon Web Services (AWS), so you’re likely using the open source WordPress software and hosting it with them, rather than having a site hosted with us on WordPress.com.
In that case, support at AWS will be able to tell you what you need to do to properly reconnect the domain.
