Domain mapping

    Hi, when connecting my present domain to my WordPress account, I chose a domain registrar that unfortunately only accepts IP addresses for mapping so now I wish to change the domain connected to my WP account with another domain belonging to a register that accepts name servers, can I? If not, I’ll need help to setup the lesser desired IP mapping. Thanks

    Hi there,

    Of what domain are you speaking? The account you’re using to post here only owns the free site, http://puoiwld.wordpress.com, and doesn’t have any domains mapped to us.

    On WordPress.com it’s perfectly fine to have one domain mapped using IP addresses and another domain using name servers – on our end they’ll display your site exactly the same.

    If you’re speaking of a WordPress site hosted at another provider, you’ll need to contact support at that provider directly to check on this, but if the host provides both name servers and IPs for connecting domains, then either should work there as well.
