Domain mapping

Hello. This is the third time I am writing and I still seem to be stuck. Please could you assist me. I am really battling to sort this problem out.

Basically, I would like to transfer my domain from Simplesite to WordPress. I have paid the $13 with WordPress and it reflects on my dashboard etc. but is not functional. When I contact Simplesite to assist me as you have indicated before, they say the following: “Dear Ashley Spracklen. Thank you for your email. Please ask your new provider to transfer your domain. Your auth code is: [Redacted by staff]”

When I have asked you guys, you have said to ask Simplesite or the registrar.

The registrar my domain name is registered with is Ascio, when I contact them, they say the following: “IF YOU’RE AN END-CUSTOMER/REGISTRANT: Please contact your domain provider. Ascio only deals with resellers.”

And then I contact Simplesite and you guys again and so I go around in circles. Please can you assist. I have really enjoyed working on WordPress, but now I am thinking maybe I should have just stayed where I was as I am not able to use the domain name I paid for. This has me pulling my hair out as I am unable to sort this out. The domain name has passed the 60 day clearance.

Please could someone assist me as soon as possible, as I am really getting frustrated.

Thank you in advance for your time.

    Ashley

    Hi Ashley,

I’m sorry for the trouble you’ve had with this domain process. However, it isn’t possible to transfer domains to WordPress.com. We aren’t able to accept incoming domain transfers, so to use your domain here at WordPress.com you will need to keep it registered elsewhere (with a different domain registrar) and use your domain mapping upgrade to point the domain to your WordPress.com site.

It sounds like Simplesite won’t let you manage your domain through them if you don’t have your website hosted there. In that case, you’ll need to transfer your domain to a different registrar first. You can find a list of popular domain registrar at the bottom of this page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#how-to-change-your-name-servers

Once your domain is registered at the new domain registrar, you can point the domain’s name servers to the following:

    • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

That will point your domain to your WordPress.com site. Please let me know if you have any questions about this and I’ll be happy to help further.
