Domain mapping automatically charged without notification (basically not authori

  • Unknown's avatar

You have today charged me the renewal of the mapping of two of my domains without sending any notification (And I still have a month to go before it expires!!!)

I did not authorised these charges as I have no intentions of renewing the mapping.

Please, could you refund me for the amount???

    Thanks.

I would also like to add that according to your billings section on the website I have those 2 charges “coming” on the 14th of March, but you have charged it today (14th of February).

** correction, it says “it will be charged on the 16th of March” yet it’s been charged on the 14th of February.

It now appeared on the website as a transaction and I finally got an email from wordpress.com saying that the purchased had gone through. It was then when I was able to cancel and request a refund.

This is not a great customer experience. You need to first notify that within “X days” you’ll charge some service and you should charge it on the correct day and not a month earlier! (which means reducing the service to 11 month on the previous purchase…)

Please review your procedures here, charging money without asking or notifying is kind of naughty, and doing it on the wrong day even worst.

I found out because paypal notified me. It’s only hours later that I got your “payment receipt” email (and no previous email)..

  • We send multiple notifications out for every renewal. If you did not receive them, it may be that your address with WordPress.com is not up to date or that the emails got caught in your spam or “social” filters.

In any case, our sincere apologies for any confusion. It isn’t our goal to trick people out of their money. I have processed those refunds for you. Please be aware that it can take up to 7-14 business days for refunds to show up on your statement.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

I did check all the places where the mail could have end up in and it was nowhere to be found, but I did receive the email notifying the purchase and the email from this post.

One thing you haven’t explained is why it was charged one month before the due date. I was meant to be charged on the 16th of March and I was charged on the 14th of February, reducing my previous purchase to 11 months instead of the 12 I had paid for.

  • We auto renew domains 30 days before their expiration date. Why? Since letting a domain expire means you may not be able to get it back in the future and having mapping not working can cause traffic to be lost, we want to ensure that everything is taken care of in advance.

You aren’t shorted a month, as 12 months are added onto your expiration date. So if your expiration date was March 16th 2014, your new expiration date would have been March 16th, 2015 even though auto renew would have run Feb 14th.

    Does that make sense?
