domain mapping confusion
-
I have a wordpress account: geoffobowral. I have an old (primary) blog attached to that account at http://geoffobowral.wordpress.com. It is mapped to a domain hosted by JustHost: http://www.something2ponder.com. I want to start a new blog (under this same WordPress account). On 3 April I purchased domain registration and domain mapping for http://www.geoffandjan.com. I then started a new blog under my account which is showing up as geoffandjan.wordpress.com. I want to map that blog to geoffandjan.com, but when I type http://www.geoffandjan.com into a browser I end up at http://www.something2ponder.com rather than being mapped to http://www.geoffandjan.wordpress.com. How do I fix this mapping please?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Not a problem!
I’ve got that fixed for you. http://www.geoffandjan.com should now point to http://www.geoffandjan.wordpress.com.

Thanks a lot for your help …
I can see in the “My Domains” section for the two blogs that you have that sorted now. So I eagerly jumped onto Chrome, flushed the cache and typed in “geoffandjan.com”, but up came the “something2ponder” blog … Hmmm … do I have to wait for DNS to propagate, or am I missing something else here?I think(?) it gets worse … when I go to “My Sites”, switch sites to the new geoffandjan site, and “view site”, I get the “something2ponder” blog
Seems something isn’t quite right yet?

When I go to geoffandjan.com, I see geoffandjan.wordpress.com.
Can you try a different browser? I know you said that you cleared the cache, but I have to believe that this is a browser issue given that everything looks fine on my end from the front and backend views.

That’s weird …
You are right It works fine on IE and on Firefox … but on Chrome and on Safari on Jan’s MacAir (which are the the two I tested before my last posting), I’m still getting the behaviour described in that last posting …
… any suggestions on how that can be fixed (or will fix itself)?

Clearing cache and giving it another 24 hours is my usual advice.
Testing with my browsers, they all show geoffandjan.com pointing to the correct location.

Thanks …
I have just cleared the browsing history in Safari on the Mac and it is now working …
However, having done the same with Chrome on my Win PC, it’s still not working … so I’ll give it a rest for 24 hours, clear the cache again tomorrow and let you know how I go …
Thanks again for your help …

First try this morning was negative … so I had to delve deep into the process of killing Chrome’s “memory” and settings (browsing history, cache, etc) … and kept re-trying … eventually it worked … can’t put my finger exactly on what step did it, but now I’m all good …
Thanks again …
