Domain mapping not working and causes redirect loop – why?

  • Unknown's avatar

I registered to map an existing domain (tfburns.com) to my wordpress blog (tfburns.wordpress.com). I followed the instructions carefully and updated the name servers via GoDaddy (my domain registrar) to those listed in the WordPress instructions. However, now, when I select in WordPress to make my primary domain ‘tfburns.com’, I get a redirect loop and cannot use either of tfburns.com or tfburns.wordpress.com to access my blog. To fix this, I can set the primary domain back to ‘tfburns.wordpress.com’, but then I don’t get what I just paid for!

Please help me resolve this issue.

    Best regards,
    Tom

So I just re-checked this and all seems to working properly despite my doing nothing! Ahh, the wonders of DNS propagation, ‘spose!

    Hi Tom,

Yep! That redirect loop is caused by a combination of DNS propagation and how your computer caches that DNS information on your end. I’m glad it’s working for you now. :)

If there’s anything more I can do to help, please let me know.
