I have an established domain name with another provider – what are the benefits to transferring to WordPress or mapping from my current domain provider? Thank you

This is a good question and one that we see quite often. It’s important to remember that there is not a wrong option, and neither are permanent if you decide to switch later on. I hope that takes some of the stress away from the decision.
With Domain Mapping the domain points to WordPress.com. Each year you pay for mapping through us and also your domain registration through your domain provider.

With a domain transfer we take over as the domain registrar and everything is in one place. That’s a big benefit for a lot of folks. The catch with a transfer is that your domain must be at least 60 days old to be eligible.
