Domain Name

  Hi

  I am new to WordPress so still learning. I would like to redirect an existing domain name to my new wordpress domain – and then change my wordpress domain to be the same as the existing one. Can I do that? If so, how?

  You just need the Domain Mapping upgrade. Then both the existing domain and the Whatever.Wordpress.com address will take people to the blog.

  thanks for your reply. I have done this and changed domain name servers to wordpress servers, but then it impacted on my e-mail (ie. couldn’t send or receive).

  I contacted previous domain provider (Fasthosts), who suggested changing name servers back to their ones and updating A Record to a WordPress IP address (so that e-mail wouldn’t be affected). I have done this, but still waiting (72 hours later) for propogation).

  I would prefer to move to wordpress domain server and then point MX record back to Fasthosts – they have provided an IP address. But I can’t work out how to do it!!

  PS. I have also contacted WordPress.com support – but no reply!
