Hello, I am a very new beginner to wordpress and although I have read numerous articles about wordpress.com vs wordpress.org I still remain confused about the domain name preferences. As I understand now, with my free account, my domain name includes wordpress in the URL. I am interested in upgrading to a subscription plan , but am wondering, will the URL still contain ‘wordpress’ unless I were to switch to using wordpress.org instead of wordpress.com

Upgrading to a paid plan gives you the option of a free custom domain right here at WordPress.com. That new domain “hides” the wordpress.com address. If you ever decided to downgrade then that .wordpress.com address would still be available to you. To upgrade: https://wordpress.com/plans

One more question, if I upgrade to a premium wordpress.com plan until I truly get my blog up and running, will it be possible/recommended to later transfer to using wordpress.org and becoming my own host?
Are there any crucial advantages to doing so?
I am a young professional seeking full-time employment and the one advantage of doing so that conflicts me is whether learning the skills required to manage a wordpress.org site would be more advantageous in today’s job market (for marketing positions)
