I was wondering if I had an account with wordpress and for some reason down the road I wanted to no longer use wordpress to house my website and domain name. Would I be able to cancel my account and take my domain name and information from my website? Or would I have to create a whole new domain name and site?

As for moving content created on a WordPress.com site to a site hosted elsewhere it all depends where that elsewhere was. If it was to a host where you used the WordPress.org software then it would be reasonably straight forward.

If you wanted to move WordPress.com content to a totally different platform you’d need to do your own research to see if that was easy/hard/even possible.
