  If I have an existing domain name but want to delete my current website (with a different host) and create a new one with WordPress, will my domain name change to be mydomainname.com.wordpress.com? Is that what I would now have to advertise as my business site? Everything I am reading states that is the case and I would like this confirmed by a human, not another page with information, please. Thank you.

  No :) You can connect the domain to your WordPress.com account. There are 2 options.

  1. mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
  2. transfer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/
