Domain Name and Website Expiring

My domain name and website are expiring with Bluehost today 7/1/2016. So I renewed my domain name, but not my website hosting due to cost. I had purchased mapping with a free WordPress account and directed my website to WordPress, with the intent on transferring my domain name. But then found out they do not transfer domain names, and was told to keep my website where it was. However that is no longer an option. I want to keep my domain name and use it with my WordPress account. I did email WordPress to ask them what to do, but I was worried about getting a refund if I waited for an answer from WordPress, so I canceled my mapping option. I will lose my website now for sure, which I don’t have a problem with because I never had done anything with it yet anyway. But now I am ready to put something together, but am lost as what to do or where to start. A guy at Bluehost suggested I start with WordPress.org since they provide the software, but I still need a web host. Can someone please give me some direction?
