Domain name category

I’ve just set up our website and registered a domain name for it through WordPress.com. Unfortunately, when I access it from my workplace, I get the following Internet security error message:

This Web page is being blocked either because it is known to contain malicious or
inappropriate material or, the site has not been reviewed by the vendor (Category =
“Unknown”) and might contain malicious or inappropriate material.

Of course, my site doesn’t have this kind of content, it’s merely uncategorized. How can I set the category so it won’t be blocked?

  • The categorization is done through whichever systems your workplace uses to prevent workers from accessing certain sites.

I recommend contacting your IT department about this.

Well, the problem is that the site is completely uncategorized. I can work through my IT department to view the site, but every other parent at every other workplace will have to do the same. Since I registered the domain name through the WordPress.com Store, I expect they should have some way of giving my address the appropriate categorization (it’s for a high school choir), which would make the site easily viewable to all.

  • No, that is not exactly true. Different workplaces use different categorization (if they even use content filters at all).

The categorization is not done through us, it’s done through the content filter.

Oh, I didn’t realize that. Thank you.
