Domain name change

  Right now, I have a WP blog under the name of http://www.kotmtestsite.wordpress.com. I want to change the site over to a domain name that has already been purchased, http://www.kidsonthemoveiw.com. I’ve read about mapping a current domain and I understand what I need to do. My question is that once I do the mapping, will the http://www.kidsonthemovewi.com domain over ride the original http://www.kotmtestsite.wordpress.com name? Will I be prompted to change that or select a domain name when I go pro (which I plan to sign up for).

  visitors will see kidsonthemovewi.com when they visit

  kotmtestsite.wordpress.com will still exist (you will see that when you are logged in and visit your Dashboard) – you will do nothing to the domain name or URL

  Yes, the http://www.kidsonthemovewi.com will over ride the original kotmtestsite.wordpress.com.

  The kidsonthemovewi.com is already associated to a website. I just need to map it to the WP site when we are ready. I just want to be sure that when I sign up for WP Pro I will be able to do that with the domain that my client already owns.

  Depending on what you want – you have two options –

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/

  Also be sure to read the terms of service to make sure what you want to do is OK here – there are some restrictions

  Okay… I went in and added the domain http://www.kidsonthemovewi.com as the primary domain on WP. This domain (which was attached to another site) is now taking the place of my http://www.kotmtestsite.wordpress.com. I bought the mapping upgrade and changed the DNS servers from the old site to point to WP.

  It looks like everything went great, except, the new WP site is not overriding the old site. Does this take time to happen? When I bring up http://www.kidsonthemovewi.com, I still see the old site, not the one I just created in WP. Did I do something wrong?

  Please advise! I’ve appreciated the help so far!
