domain name hosting
-
I’ve bought my domain name via Godaddy and its paid until 2024. I’d like to try WordPress to design the web site. Do I have to pay £11 p/m to WordPress although I’m paid up to 2024 with Godaddy?

Hi –
GoDaddy is your domain registrar. That’s different from the hosting you need in order for a site to be live on the internet.
WordPress.com offers a managed hosting environment. There’s 2 ways to connect that GoDaddy domain to us:
1. mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
2. transfer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/Both options require a plan upgrade. The personal plan is a great starting place. That includes your hosting, domain, support access, and the features listed. https://wordpress.com/pricing/
If you transfer the domain to us, the transfer fee is included with the personal plan. Then, the domain would become registered with us through 2025. The plan you need for the hosting though needs to be renewed each year.
Does this help?
