Domain name purchased from wordpress but not showing my website

    I have mapped my wordpress.com blog to a domain name I already own.

    The previous host changed the DNS three days ago but when I type in the domain name it is going to the old website and not re-directing to the wordpress one.

    I have been to the ‘My Domains’ page and changed my primary site to the domain name I want but this has made no difference.

    When I go to Domain Support it says that the domain is validated with the correct DSNs and is set as primary. Why is it not visible?

    Any suggestions please?

    Does anyone know how I can speak to someone in admin at wordpress who can help resolve this issue please?

    I see that the NS records are not fully propagated yet: https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/lakeside.co.in

    Perhaps you can contact your domain registrar and check with them if the name server records are set up correctly on their end.

    I have been in touch with the domain registrar who says

    The given name server is correctly updated in our control panel. Please find the URL below. http://who.is/whois/lakeside.co.in

    The wordpress site is still not coming up.

    Any further suggestions please?

    And any ideas how I can contact wordpress directly? They just don’t seem to be responding!

    We had received a similar issue with another .in domain and it seems their propagation time was pretty slow but it eventually worked.

    That said, we’ll wait for another day or two to see what happens. In the meantime please don’t change your DNS records.

    Thanks. As you know it’s now only showing as propagated to China!

    I’ll sit back for another couple of days and wait to see what happens.

    Hi Kardotim
    The website is now no longer propagated in China but is only showing as New Zealand.
    This has been a problem for more than a week now, and I am getting clients contacting me to say that they cannot access the webpage. If this continues it could seriously damage our business.
    I know it’s not your fault, personally, but is there anything else you can do please? I’m beginning to feel desperate!

    I’ve just notified the developer to take a closer look at it. However, I think the issue lies with the domain registrar. I’ll contact you right away once we know more about this.

    The developer confirmed that there is nothing on our end we can do about this. You can try to contact the registrar again and let them know the name server records are not propagating.

    I have been in touch with the registrar who said everything is OK at their end and told me to look at http://who.is/whois/lakeside.co.in

    When I went to the link as suggested it shows status as ‘inactive’ (top right). It also shows further down CLIENT TRANSFER PROHIBITED.

    I questioned them on this and received the following reply:
    Thank you for your email. I see these nameservers were added a while ago and they should be working by now. There’s no hold or anything on our side that would prevent this from working, but instead there are no DNS records setup on wordpress.com’s end and as such it’s not working.

    PLEASE ENSURE THAT THIS IS FIXED IMMEDIATELY. We purchased this package on 13th of this month and since then have had our website hidden which has had a great impact on our business. We are losing money because of this. I have spoken with my MD who is not happy with the situation and is considering what action to take if the matter is not resolved with immediate effect.

    Please can you pass this on to your tech team for immediate action.

    The whois information can be cached and therefore not up to date. Your registrar needs to use the dig command in a terminal to lookup a domain’s name servers. Or use this web interface: http://www.digwebinterface.com/?hostnames=lakesideindia.co.in&type=NS&ns=resolver&useresolver=8.8.4.4&nameservers= (as you can see the result shows that there are no name server records set).

    Since the domain is not registered at WordPress.com there is nothing we can do. The domain doesn’t reach out servers because the name server records aren’t set.

    I fully understand that you might want to cancel and refund your domain mapping upgrade if the redirect isn’t working. You can do so at https://lakesideguesthouse.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

    If you prefer to wait until it works I can extend the expiration date of your upgrade.

    Dear Kardotim.

    I’m still having problems I’m afraid! I’ll try to recap so that we are sure we are all talking about the same thing.

    I have three blogs under the name of lakesideindia. These are:
    Lakesideindia – lakesideindia.wordpress.com (visible)
    Lakeside – lakesideguesthouse.wordpress.com (visible)
    South India Tours – southindiatoursuk.wordpress.com (hidden)

    I purchased the domain mapping for lakesideguesthouse.wordpress.com. the mapping isfor a domain name which I own http://www.lakeside.co.in On the domains section of Store on my dashboard I am showing lakeside.co.in as the primary domain which is active and renews on 13th April 2015. This is the one which is causing me all the problems. (I did say in my first contact that I had selected the domain name I wanted showing, but probably was not very clear; is it actually the correct one? Could it be so simple as the wrong domain selected?)

    After your last message I was in touch with the domain registrar again and have received the following from them:
    There is no issue in our end and name server records are successfully updated in our end.
    I would like to inform you that there is no DNS records available in wordpress.com server.
    Also I would like to inform you that you are speaking about the WRONG domain lakesideindia.co.in instead of lakeside.co.in
    Wrong one:

    Correct one:

    I’m afraid I’m a technical no-hoper so it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Could you please pass this information to your tech team to see if it resolves the problem? Thanks.
    If it does not work then could they please telephone Mohamad Nazar, (phone retracted) It may just be possible that if he and your tech team can have a conversation without me acting as intermediary progress might be made!

    The records are propagated and the domain seems to work now.
