Domain name registered w/GoDaddy; WordPress won't change

I’ve done everything I’m supposed to do with GoDaddy to get my .com to be recognized by WordPress. I paid a mapping fee to WordPress, which now I’m finding out that maybe I didn’t have to after all. At any rate, the domain name was submitted to WordPress well over a week ago, along with my credit card info, but the change has not been made. I’ve submitted several email inquiries – no assistance so far. Help, please.

What, exactly, have you done to connect the domain name with the WordPress.com blog? What does it say under your Dashboard Domains?

It says briarlanestudio.wordpress.com. When I try to change it to briarlanestudio.com, it asks for another $12. I’ve already paid the $12. I even received confirmation from WordPress that it received my request. But that’s been well over a week ago. I do not have a website. I just want the blog. GoDaddy says everything on their end has been done correctly and it’s a WordPress issue.

I should add…someone told me that I shouldn’t have to pay the $12 at all just to get the .com instead of wordpress.com.

It can take domain changes up to 72 hours (though usually much less) to propagate to your ISP. Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your ISP refreshes their DNS cache.
