domain name specifics
-
If I get the most basic form of wordpress and pay extra for a domain name, will my domain name actually be my site? Further, I really need to ask some questions and don’t want to waste inordinate time getting answers.
Is there a way to get a template, a unique domain name and pay for extras—or does everything just jump to premium? Seems like I got frustrated with wordpress before for what seemed straightforward was not straightforward.
I want my site: http://www.alenewright.com That’s it. I want a reasonably priced, amenable template that I will pay for. I don’t want ads and will pay for that.
The url showing below? Never used that, not sure if it’s really been assigned, definitely don’t want it.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you do not pay for Domain Mapping or registering a new domain, your URL will be alenewrightdotcom.wordpress.com.

If you have alenewright.com registered elsewhere, you need domain mapping ($13/yr). If you do not have alenewright.com registered elsewhere, you will need to register it as a new domain ($18/yr), assuming that it is available.

You can find our “paid” themes listed here:

You need the no-ads upgrade ($30/yr):

alenewrightdotcom.wordpress.com is your permanent WordPress.com URL that the backend system uses for your site. If you purchase or map a custom domain, your viewers will never see alenewrightdotcom.wordpress.com in their address bar. They will only see alenewright.com. The only time you will see alenewrightdotcom.wordpress.com is when using some administrative features.
Let me know if that all makes sense.
