domain name transfer

  I just purchased my domain name on go daddy for 5 years and now see I should have gone through WP. Not sure how to transfer the domain. Looks complicated. Is there someone who can guide me through the process? I want to start setting up my website soon.

  Hi,

  You don’t actually HAVE to transfer your domain to WordPress.com in order to use it with a WordPress.com site. You can map it here and leave it registered with GoDaddy if you wish.

  You will need the Domain Mapping upgrade to do that. Domain Mapping is included in all WordPress.com paid plans:

  Once you have purchased a plan, here is a support document that will explain how to set up Domain Mapping with your domain:

  And just to clarify, if you would prefer, you can transfer your domain registration from GoDaddy to WordPress.com with these instructions:
