Domain not working
-
Hello!
Whenever I set my ‘.com’ domain as the primary domain, my blog stops working/showing up and cannot be accessed. It cannot be accessed by either myself from my own WordPress account, or from someone else trying to reach my blog with either my ‘.wordpress.com’ or ‘.com’ addresses. Why is this happening and how can I fix this, please? I would really like to set the primary domain to be ‘www.ladyfloralist.com’.With kind regards,
Lady Floralist
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I’m not sure why this was happening, but I’ve set ladyfloralist.com as your primary domain and your site is coming up fine for me here: http://ladyfloralist.com/

Are you still having any issues with this?

Hello again!
It seems I am still having issues : ( but only when I am using Google Chrome. Well, I only tried accessing the blog site on Internet Explorer, and not through my admin account. But I am assuming it would work. The thing is, whenever I set the ‘.com’ domain as my primary domain, I can’t access my blog through Google Chrome. At least not on my computer. When I got the error I clicked on ‘More’ to understand what the issue is and here is what it said:
The webpage at http://ladyfloralist.com/ has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.
Learn more about this problem.
Error code: ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTSSo, I cleared my cookies and it didn’t work, and I set both my domains as exceptions for the cookie setting and it still didn’t work. The thing is, I would prefer to use Chrome as opposed to Internet Explorer. Do you happen to know anything about cookies and/or this specific issue I am getting with Google Chrome?
Thank you again for all your help!

Hi there – thanks for the details! For mapped domains to work correctly, the browser needs to be set to accept third-party cookies.
Is your install of Chrome set to accept third-party cookies? You can check that here:
This is what you should see under the grey box at the top if cookies are set correctly – do you see this or something else?

Thanks!

Thank you for the quick reply!
It does show that third party cookies are enabled message (“Great, third party cookies are properly enabled in your browser!”).How weird. Do you think perhaps something else in my cookie settings is not configured properly?
These are the options Google Chrome cookie settings gives me:
-Allow local data to be set (recommended) [I HAVE THIS ONE CHECKED]
-Keep local data only until I quit my browser
-Block sites from setting any data
-Block third-party cookies and site data
Does that have anything to do with it?
Thank you!!

Thanks for testing that. Those cookie settings look OK.
Could we try two more things next:
1) Could you try turning off all your Chrome extensions? Here are instructions for doing that:
http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=187443
Scroll down to the section called “Temporarily disable extensions.”
See if your custom domain works alright when set as primary domain.
2) With ladyfloralist.com set as your primary domain, could you please visit this page: http://www.webconfs.com/http-header-check.php
Put http://ladyfloralist.com/ into the text field and click Submit. Paste the results of the test here.
Thanks!

Sure thing!
1) I seemed to already have no extensions enabled.
2) Here are the results:
HTTP/1.1 200 OK =>
Server => nginx
Date => Thu, 15 Aug 2013 22:32:56 GMT
Content-Type => text/html; charset=UTF-8

Thanks for trying those things.
Could you please try clearing your Chrome cache? I’m not sure that’s something you already tried, but could you please try again, even if you have?

Let me know how it goes!

Hello again!
It started working!! I’m not sure if it happened before or after me clearing the cache because I didn’t check right before I did so. But if that was it, then perfect! Thank you so much!! Hopefully the issue doesn’t pop up again.
I appreciate your help! Have a lovely Saturday!
