domain payment timeline

    Hello. I first payed for the .com domain for my blog in February of last year, but I was charged for the renewal of my domain today in January. I thought the domain was renewed once a year. I was just wondering if you could tell me why I was charged a month early and if I will be again charged in January of 2016 or if it is an eleven month period. Thank you!

    We auto renew domains 30 days before their expiration date. Why? Since letting a domain expire means you may not be able to get it back in the future, we want to ensure that everything is taken care of in advance. We do send out notification emails before charging your card, as we try not to surprise anyone.

    You can turn off auto-renew from the “My Upgrades” page:
