Domain prefix www. isn't transferred

    Hello,

    Some backstory. I originally bought my domain http://www.barebybella.com on here, but then I moved to Squarespace and had it pointed there. After that, I transferred it to Shopify (or so I thought), and disconnected it from Squarespace. the https://barebybella.com works but the http://www.barebybella.com does not. I changed my WordPress password to try and gain access to it to fix the domain issues after not having been on here for some time, and my issue is that I don’t see my old domain info on my WordPress account.

    Can anyone offer help or next steps for me here?

    Hi there!

    I checked the domain barebybella.com and I can see that this was never registered with us at WordPress.com. This means your domain was registered elsewhere. And if you used WordPress on this site, you were using the WordPress.org software that was hosted elsewhere.

    There are some differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you aren’t sure about them, please check the following page that explains it well: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.

    We primarily provide support for WordPress.com sites on this forum. As your site wasn’t hosted by us and the domain wasn’t/isn’t registered with us either, we aren’t able to look into this or provide hands-on support.

    If you want the www version of the domain to redirect to the non-www version that loads the site, you can log in to your domain’s DNS management area (your domain is still registered with Shopify from what we see) and make sure that the www is set up to redirect to the root domain.

    This can often be done by adding a CNAME record that goes like this:

    In CNAME www POINTS TO barebybella.com

    You’d need your domain registrar’s help with adding the CNAME record. Also, note that the DNS change can take up to 72 hours to take effect.

    Hope that helps. If it doesn’t, you may want to contact Shopify support for assistance as the domain is still registered by them.
