Domain purchased through WordPress.com but cannot access the account anymore

    Hi,

A client set up a WordPress.com blog years ago and bought a .com domain for it. The website itself was moved to another host in January 2014, but the domain registration remained at WP.com.

Now I’m assisting the client with moving the domain to another registrar, but nobody seems to be able to find a login for the original WP.com account to unlock the domain and obtain the EPP key. Can you help, please? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

The account you’re using to post here has never owned a custom domain, nor any other upgrade on WordPress.com. What is the domain in question?

You’re absolutely correct, this is not about the mukavablog site. Yeah, looks like the last line was added automatically by the system.

Is there a private channel for this conversation as it’s the client’s domain and I shouldn’t include it here publicly?

  • All domains that are registered on the web are listed on a public database that anyone with an internet connection can access, so a domain name is not really private information. But I’ve sent you an email to help with this.

Please note, however, that all I can do advise you on the current status of the domain. We cannot help anyone but the verified owner transfer the domain. If you don’t have the login credentials of the account in question the only way to gain access is via our account recovery process.
