  Hi! I am thinking up upgrading to a personal/business plan to lose the ‘wordpress.com’ in my URL. However, I have already given out my website in the ‘domainname.wordpress.com’ format to multiple followers. If I upgrade and lose the ‘wordpress’ in my URL, does that mean the old URL is now invalid?

  Your WordPress.com address will still work. Visitors using it will just seamlessly be transferred to your new .com address. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/all-about-domains/
