Domain Recovery
-
Hi WP Team, I am working with a web dev and we were (she) uses wordpress.org and putting the domain to goDaddy.
So i initially tried to do this myself and with (Stacy) Mergz Media we made adjustments and looks like my domain was expiring so I renewed it. THEN I remembered ‘Wait im not on WP.com im on WP.org…so I cancelled everything apparently leading to where we are at.
IF: I can recover it in any way great. It seems like the means to do so could be you identify it and ‘release’ or allow us to find it in Go Daddy? (Not quite sure – this is my logic fishing for an answer)
Please Advise

Due to the way domain registrations and expiration work, we can’t release the domain at will. Instead, there’s a standard procedure and timeline based on international regulations. Additionally, even if we were able to release it, that wouldn’t guarantee you would be able to grab it in GoDaddy.
The good news is the domain is still available, as it’s in redemption. I’ve sent you a manual payment link via email so you can pay for the domain redemption (late renewal fee) and the domain registration (since your initial payment was refunded).
Once you recover the domain, you can point it to your developer’s hosting provider using name servers or DNS records:
After the initial 60-day transfer lock period, you can also transfer the domain out if you want, although that’s not really necessary because you can use your domain with any host while it’s registered here at WordPress.com.
