Domain registration
-
I received a letter from Domain Registry (domainregistry.to) and I wanted to see if this was legitimate or not. I’ve always renewed the domain through wordpress directly in the past. Is this letter normal or is this a scam?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
domainregistry.to appears to be a legitimate domain provider based on what I see on their website. However, I’ve never heard of them, and it’s very suspicious that they’re using a name almost identical to domainregistry.com, which is a legitimate and well-established domain provider.
That said, geekbeerz.com, is registered with us at WordPress.com and has been since 2013, and anyone else telling you you need to pay them for anything related to that domain is trying to scam you.
They likely obtained your contact information from the Whois database, as I can see you’ve never had private registration active on that domain.
Private registration used to be a paid add-on on WordPress.com, but since late last year we offer this service for free for all domains registered with us that are eligible for privacy protection.
Your account is not the owner of this domain, but if you log into the account that owns it, you should be able to enable private registration for this domain, which will hide your contact info from appearing in future Whois searches.
