Domain registration expires in 11 months instead of 1 year?
-
Hello! I just registered my domain with wordpress (and also signed up for the “no ads” feature). I’m curious to know why my domain name is expiring in 11 months, instead of a year? (My “no ads” feature expires in a year — and they were registered on the same day, within the same 15 minute period). It would be nice to have everything renew on the same date, since I purchased them on the same date… thank you!

We auto renew domains 30 days before their expiration date. Why? Since letting a domain expire means you may not be able to get it back in the future, we want to ensure that everything is taken care of in advance. We do send out notification emails before charging your card, as we try not to surprise anyone. This is mentioned in the “my upgrades” support document and when you set up your auto-renewal. But it can also be easy to miss, so I understand the confusion.
You can turn off auto-renew from the “My Upgrades” page:

Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

Thanks very much for the speedy reply! Sorry I missed that detail in the support document. :-)

No worries! Lots to learn here and some of it can be confusing (especially domain stuff).
Happy blogging!
