Domain registration redirect

hi, i currently blog @ naijaobserver.wordpress.com, i want to upgrade it to naijaobserver.com, i want to do this without losing my already established traffic, i am confused on what to do. any help would be appreciated. Thank you

You need to register the domain name (can do it here) then you do Domain Mapping (not Redirect) the domain name to your base blog – then the new domain name will show in the browser address line when you have visitors – all your old links will still work to your base blog.
Over a period of time search engines will send traffic to the new address but the old address will always work

No I can’t do it for you – needs to be done by an Admin for a blog and I am an unpaid volunteer helper here – so giving me your credit card info and blog log-in access is not recommended to be done for strangers –
the link below should give you all the info you need – CAUTION if you do make some sort of an error – DON’T DELETE ANYTHING – the staff can fix any errors as long as you don’t delete things to “start over”
