Domain regitrar costs
-
Hi, I’d like to open a new Premium account with WordPress website hosting. I already own the domain through Domain.com, and I’m unclear on WordPress’ registrar costs. I renewed with Domain.com for 5 years, and WP seems to give an extra year free, so will WordPress only bill me for registrar services in 6 years?
Also, I’m getting a discount on the subscription costs of Google Workspace through my current registrar. Will this discount continue if WordPress is my registrar?

WP.com: Yes
Correct account: Yes -
We have two options for using a domain you already own with a site here at WordPress.com:
Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/
You will need a paid plan, any paid plan to use either of these, and both mapping and the first year of a transfer are included for free: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
If you transfer the domain, we’ll add an additional year to its registration, so in this case it won’t expire for 6 years.
We don’t transfer Google Workspace discounts, but you are welcome to keep that with your current provider.
