domain renewal
-
I am getting domain renewal notices but when I logged in here it said I had no site. Last year I migrated to a WordPress.org site. I’ve renewed there through Websavers. I would love help figuring out what to do before my domain expires on April 8th.

I’m at karriezylstramyton.com with WordPress.org. I still have a redirect from my .com domain but I don’t remember if that was the same and can’t check.
I’m considering letting the redirect expire if I can be sure that my .org account will still function.

Hi there,
Just to clarify something – neither your domain nor your site is with WordPress.org. WordPress.org is the site where the WordPress software is made, but it’s not a hosting platform like WordPress.com. So you’re using their software, but your site is hosted with OVH web hosting, and it appears your domain is also registered with them.
Based on public Whois info, your domain only expires on 2 April 2020 – it looks like it was renewed around two weeks ago.
The renewal notices you’re receiving is for the site redirect upgrade for that domain on WordPress.com, which is the only upgrade related to that site with us. That upgrade will expire on 16 April. To renew that you’ll need to log into the account that owns it, which is not the same as the account you’re using to post here.
I’m considering letting the redirect expire if I can be sure that my .org account will still function.
The only thing that upgrade does is to send visitors to your old, free WordPress.com site, to the new site at OVH instead. If you let the redirect upgrade expire, visitors to the old WordPress.com site will no longer be redirected, but it won’t affect in any way how your website currently at karriezylstramyton.com works.
