Domain Renewal Issue

Hi everyone,
I’m facing a frustrating issue with my domain and would appreciate any help or suggestions.
The Problem:
My domain has expired, and when I try to renew it, I’m running into two blockers:- The domain no longer shows up in my active domains list in the dashboard
- When I try to re-register it, I get this error: “This domain already has a WordPress site on it”
Because of these two issues, I can’t renew the expired domain and I can’t re-register it either.
The domain was originally registered through WordPress.com’s domain service.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Any suggestions on how to resolve this? I’m also planning to reach out to support, but wanted to see if there’s a known workaround or solution in the community first.

I would say that domain is connected to another account of yours. As you have a paid plan, simply use the Transaction ID to restore access to the account owning that domain – https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/verify-ownership/#transaction-id

I just checked the account you’re using to contact us and confirmed that there are no purchases linked to it.
As staartmees mentioned, you might be logged into the wrong account.
In that case, you may need to log out and then log in again using another email address you might have used. If you don’t remember it, you can try our account recovery here:
