Domain retrieval

    I cancelled my domain however this wasn’t my intention as I simply wanted to be able to customise my site and I wasn’t able to do this. Is there anyway to contact the registrar to retrieve it before the cancellation has been processed?

    Are you speaking of callmeiana.com?

    It is still possible for us to restore that domain to your account, but as you’ve also cancelled the personal plan in which the domain was included for a full refund, I’ll need to you buy a new plan for your site before I can restore it. Owning a paid plan is a requirement for having a custom domain on WordPress.com.

    If you intend to use this domain somewhere else, it should be released again within a few days, at which point you can register it directly with the hosting provider where you plan to use it.

    Yes I am referring to that. Is it guaranteed to be released in a few days? I’ve seen that sometimes you don’t get the domain back?

    Do I also not have the option to just purchase the domain? There was a refund option to cancel the plan and keep the domain

  • There’s always a chance that the registry decides not to release the domain, but in several years of doing this job I have never seen that happen. There’s also a possibility that someone has the domain on back-order, and will register it the moment it’s released, but that is highly unlikely with a brand new domain like yours.

    So while I cannot guarantee that the domain will become available, the possibility that it won’t is negligible in this case.

    If you want to use the domain somewhere else but you’d prefer to restore it we can do that. Then I can help you point the domain to the provider where you want to use it, and once you’ve owned it for 60 days you can transfer it away from us.

    Please confirm if you’d like to do that.

    Meanwhile, to point it to another host you’ll need that host’s name servers or IP address. Please contact them directly to ask for those, and once the domain is back in your account we can show you where to add those.
