domain switch and blog name change

  • Unknown's avatar

I would like to cancel my domain registration for inspiredcalgary.com. I do not use it.
Instead I have a new domain name and would like to rename my blog to reflect the new domain.
Am I better off letting inspiredcalgary expire and just start up the new one, or should I transfer names?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

You’re welcome to have multiple domain names on the same blog, so if you’d like you can go ahead and register a new domain or map a domain you already own on your blog.

Once you have the new domain set up with your blog, you can set it as the blog’s primary domain (the one that appears in the address bar when you visit the blog). Then, you can just let the old domain inspiredcalgary.com expire. If you prefer, I can just cancel that domain registration for you so you aren’t bothered with domain expiration notices.

Just keep in mind that once a domain is cancelled or expires, you lose ownership of the domain and there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to use it again in the future. Also, visitors to your blog won’t be able to use that domain to get to your blog anymore — they’ll need to use your new domain name.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
