  How do I transfer my purchased domain name to a wordpress website?

  WordPress.com doesn’t currently support incoming domain transfers. However if you already own a domain you can ‘map’ it to your site with Domain Mapping:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan, such as the Personal plan. Each paid plan includes a free domain credit which you can use to map a domain you already own (or register a new one).
