Domain Transfer

    I have a domain name that I own currently hosted by GoDaddy. I have built a WordPress.com website and want my true domain name to be used on my new WordPress site so I can shut down GoDaddy account. I have unlocked it on GoDaddy and waited 10 days like they said. How do I make this happen? I still want to stay with free WordPress.com site for now.

    Hi there,

    It’s not possible to transfer a domain to WordPress.com. If you have an existing domain with GoDaddy that you want to use with a WordPress.com site, you’ll need to keep the domain registered at GoDaddy (only the domain – you don’t need a hosting account with them). and then you can connect it here via the domain mapping upgrade.

    You will need to purchase a WordPress.com plan in order to use the domain mapping upgrade.
