  I am looking use a domain I own as he url for my wordpress.com site. Is there any way to do this without a paid account?

  Hi there, Domain Mapping is part of the WordPress.com Personal, Premium or Business plan upgrades. One of those would be required in order to map a domain name you already own to a site here at WordPress.com.
