    Do I really have to pay to transfer my domain name to WordPress? Is there any free alternative?

    As part of the transfer process we must renew your domain for another year, and that costs us money. And connecting a domain to a WordPress.com site is a paid service – most hosting providers charge a fee for doing this.

    We have already provided you with a free domain at http://stonecoldsports300950221.wordpress.com/, and you can change that to any other free WordPress.com address that’s available at any time. But adding your own custom domain requires one of our paid plans.
