Domain transfer

  We have a website on another platform but we want to switch to wordpress. I don’t want to transfer the domain name until I have a working website. Can I build the site on wordpress using a temporary domain then transfer my existing domain name when the site is ready?

  Sure — you can start by creating a free site (with “.wordpress.com” in the address), then map or transfer the existing domain when you are ready to switch over to WordPress.com.
