Domain Transfer

  Hi there! I am trying to transfer my domain name that Networks Solutions currently hosts and switch it to my wordpress website. How should I go about this? Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you. Cheers!

  Hello Jack,

  First, you’ll need to upgrade your WordPress.com site to one of our paid plans at My Site ->Plans.

  Then the next step depends on whether you have content you want to migrate from the existing site or not. If you do, log into WP-Admin on that site (assuming it’s using the WordPress software) and go to Tools ->Export to download an export file. That you can then import to the WordPress.com site at My Site ->Import. We have a more detailed guide here:

  Once all your content is moved over, it will be safe to also switch over your domain. You can leave the domain registered with Network Solutions and just connect it here via a process called domain mapping. You can map an unlimited number of domains to your site for free as long as you have a paid plan on the site.

  Or you can transfer the registration to us completely. This is free for one domain as part of your plan, and includes a renewal for one year once the transfer completes. From next year the domain will renew at an additional cost on top of the renewal cost of your plan.
