  My domain name will be eligible for transfer in a couple of weeks. Can I connect without transferring now so I can start creating a website but transfer my domain at a later date?

  Hi there,

  You can, yes.

  First, create a new WordPress.com site at https://wordpress.com/start/site/

  On the domains step, select the option to use a domain you already own, but then select the domain mapping option, rather than the domain transfer:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  The mapping will not use the free domain available in your plan, as mapping is completely free with a plan. So you’ll still have your free domain available in two weeks when you transfer your domain.
