Domain Transfer Confusion

I am trying to build a Classified Ad Website with word press and I currently have a domain name with Godaddy, but you force me to transfer or map my domain name. Will this affect my domain name and or charge me more money for doing so?

Hi there,
We don’t force you to do anything. You only need to map or transfer your domain to us if you want to build the new site on our hosting on WordPress.com. In that case, you will also need to upgrade to a paid plan, as that’s a requirement for using your own domain on a site hosted with us. To build a classifieds site you’ll also be using plugins, which specifically requires our Business Plan.
If you’re trying to set up a WordPress site on a hosting plan you already bought from GoDaddy, you don’t need to do anything here on WordPress.com, as we have absolutely nothing to do with the site you’re building there. In that case you’d be using the open source WordPress software made by the community on WordPress.org, which is something completely different from WordPress.com.
