Domain Transfer or Mapping?

  I purchased my domain name in the last 2 weeks, at the same time as purchasing hosting from Siteground. Should I pay to transfer the domain name to WordPress, or just map it? Which is easiest and cheapest in the long run?

  This is WordPress.com. If you’ve purchased a domain and hosting somewhere else I would think that continuing there with the WordPress.org software would be easiest in the long run.
  If you want to move your domain to WordPress.com then you’d need to purchase an upgraded plan here to enable you to map your new domain. (You can’t transfer a domain until you’ve owned it for at least 60 days).

  Thank you. I hadn’t realised that .org and .com even exist as alternative ways of using WordPress.

  I went back into my hosting ‘welcome’ and realised they’d set up a WordPress site for me and I just needed to choose a theme. Doh!
