Domain transfer or mapping

Hi just starting a website for my small business. Bought a domain name at godaddy and want it to be used for my wordpress site. As I’ve already paid them I clicked on mapping but is saying I’ve to pay £84 for a wordpress plan. Wondering if this is just what it costs to have your own domain name added or if I’ve done something wrong? Any help appreciated, thanks.

If you want to transfer or map your custom domain to https://craigshieldsdrivinglessons.wordpress.com/ then you need an upgraded plan here at WordPress.com. It doesn’t have to be the Premium plan though. The Personal plan would work too. (If you hadn’t already purchased your domain elsewhere you could have saved some money too as a WordPress.com upgraded plan includes the option of a free custom domain)
