Domain transfer question
-
1) The domain name I will be using is currently owned by a friend who is going to transfer it to me; can that be my free custom domain name for the Personal plan?
2) I have three additional domain names I would like to point at my website (also currently owned by a friend) – can I manage those through my WordPress hosting plan, or would I need to use a third-party domain registrar?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The domain name I will be using is currently owned by a friend who is going to transfer it to me; can that be my free custom domain name for the Personal plan?
It can be, yes. Once the domain ownership has been transferred to you and there is an active plan on your account, I can sort that out for you.
I have three additional domain names I would like to point at my website
Are the domains registered through WordPress.com or another registrar? Once I know more, I’ll be able to give you some advice.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi, thanks very much for your response. The three domains are registered with a different registrar. Will I be able to point those to my website?

Hi there,

Domain Mapping allows you to use domains registered with another registrar, on WordPress.com:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
You could map all three domains to your site and then select one as your primary domain. All your other domains will redirect to the primary one. Visitors can get to your blog using any of the domains you added, but the address they see in their browser’s address bar will always be the primary domain.
In order to map a domain, you will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan such as the Personal plan. Each paid plan includes a free domain credit which you can use to map a domain you already own (or register a new one).
You can then purchase an additional domain mapping upgrade ($13) for each of the other two domains, and add them to your plan.
Come back to me if you need anything else.
