domain transfers

  I already have a domain name. I’m not sure I want to transfer it. Are there any cost associated with a transfer? Are there any benefits?

  Hi there,

  The only reason to transfer the domain here would be if you wanted to use it with a site hosted on our servers, and you currently don’t own any sites on WordPress.com.

  If you decide to create a new site with us, you’ll need to upgrade that site to one of our paid plans in order to transfer the domain. The transfer itself is free, included in the plan, and will also renew the domain for an additional year. From next year onwards the domain renews separately from the plan.
