Domain Troubles :(

    Hey WordPress!

Sorry to bother you but I can’t find this on help forums. I own a website (and the domain) for http://www.aroundaboutapp.com. I just purchased a premium plan on WordPress and was hoping to have blog.aroundaboutapp.com for the blog. But I cannot seem to put ‘blog.’ at the start. I’m not sure why, if you look at sites like blog.fiverr.com they have it and it looks great.

Are you able to help me?

    Cheers

    Mitch

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Mitch,

The setup you described is called mapping a subdomain (in this case, the subdomain “blog”). To finish mapping that subdomain to your site, you’ll need to add the following CNAME record to your domain:

    blog.aroundaboutapp.com. IN CNAME aroundaboutapp.wordpress.com.

You’ll need to do that with your domain registrar (where you purchased the domain aroundaboutapp.com). The exact steps depend on your registrar, so if you’re not sure how to add that CNAME record you can ask your registrar for more help with a message like this:

I would like to map a subdomain of my domain to my blog, which is hosted at WordPress.com. I want to use the subdomain blog.aroundaboutapp.com. Can you please add a CNAME record to point that subdomain to aroundaboutapp.wordpress.com?

We also have a guide to Map a Subdomain with more details.

Everything is set up on this end for blog.aroundaboutapp.com to work, once that CNAME record is up and running. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

    Hello

I am sorry to bother you again, however I have still not found a solution to this problem. I have spent the past week trying to solve it with net registry. However they haven’t seem to be able to.

I have set up the CNAME with their help however it simply redirects from blog.aroundaboutapp.com to aroundaboutapp.wordpress.com

This is not what I wanted to accomplish. I would like to have it set up so that when the user types in blog.aroundaboutapp.com they stay on that site and it is the full functioning wordpress blog.

Could you please assist me with this issue further? I would be very grateful.

    Cheers

    Hi there,

Do you mean that you want the URL in the browser’s address bar to stay blog.aroundaboutapp.com rather than changing to aroundaboutapp.wordpress.com?

You can do that by setting the site’s primary domain to blog.aroundaboutapp.com on your My Domains page. The primary domain is the one that will appear in the browser’s address bar when someone visits the site.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
