Domain type questions

    I purchased my .com form Wix….I was given my .blog when enrolling with WordPress….Wix states that I have a 60 day period before I can add my .com to my wordpress act….but I want to get an email address using my .com domain….what if anything can wordpress help me to resolve this issue?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    Just to clarify, you have a .com domain with Wix. You want to use that domain with your WordPress.com site along with your .blog domain, and you want to set up email at the .com domain?

    We’re not able to accept incoming domain transfers on WordPress.com, so you’ll need to map the domain here – I see you’ve already added the mapping upgrade.

    Wix doesn’t allow you to change a domain’s name servers, so to complete the mapping process you’ll need to add our IP addresses to the domain instead. You will need to add two A-records with these IPs:

    192.0.78.24

    192.0.78.25

    And to set up email you will also have to add the necessary MX records for your email provider to the domain on Wix’s end, as those need to be added wherever your domain’s name servers are pointed.

    Once your domain is past the 60-day lock period you can always transfer it to a different provider that allows you to change the name servers, and then you’ll be able to set up the email DNS records on our end, but it’s not possible to transfer the domain registration to us.

    Hey there & thank you for your response:-)
    I am not a tech savvy kinda person, so I would like to speak with someone if possible on a phone call?
    I get what you are saying, but would like a bit of direction on what I should do going forward.
    If you can, let me know if a call is possible.

    However, there’s nothing we can do from our end at this point – your domain needs to be pointed here from Wix’s side, and only they can help you with that.

    I can see that you’ve added the IPs I provided to the domain on Wix’s end, but their IP is also still added. You’ll need to contact them and ask them to remove that before the domain will show your WordPress.com site.

    We cannot help with the email setup, as it’s not possible to point your domain’s name servers to us from Wix, so you also need to contact them for help in setting up the email.
