  I am trying to create a domain
  It can not be chosen from the list, but when I browse to the url it says it is no longer available.

  Is that the domain address you wanted to use? Until quite recently WordPress.com maintained that once an address was deleted it was unavailable to be used ever again. Now they are saying there is the possibility of re-using an address if it has been deleted for over two years. So it all depends when bartpeek was deleted. If it was only deleted recently then I’m afraid you’ll have to choose a different address.
