If I own a domain on GoDaddy and pay for it, why do I have to pay to transfer it to WordPress? Shouldn’t it be free because I already own it?

You don’t have to transfer your domain here on WordPress.com. If you want to use our hosting service, you can keep your domain at GoDaddy and connect it to your WordPress.com site by following this guide:

If you’ve already purchased a hosting plan from GoDaddy or some other host, then you can use that to install WordPress and build your site. If that’s the case, then you need to contact your host to help you with it.
